Part 2 of Andrea's Visit - June 2013

This is a continuation of Andrea's visit home in June.
After spending time in Newport and Cincinnati, on Friday, we went to the hospital to take Amos, the 3 year old who lost his mother in a car accident, Spiderman stickers. We found the stickers that morning, after we ate at Cracker Barrel. Then, after the hospital, I took Andrea to the her hotel and we both rested. Then, we got ready to return to Cincinnati as Andrea was meeting with her birth sister. They had not seen each other for around six to eight years. They had a nice reunion together for several hours before we parted. Andrea and I went to my home, so she could visit her Aunt Hope and grandfather. That evening,  our dog Scruffy, was so excited to see her. You could tell he remembered her, as he had not seen her for more than two years. It was funny to see.

Andrea's visit - June 2013

My daughter, Andrea came home for a visit. But, the reason for the visit was for a funeral. My best friend's daughter was killed in a car accident, while leaving her husband & her 3 year old son. For you see, this best friend is like a sister to me and the girl, who passed away, was like a sister to my daughter. So this was devastating to both sides of the family. They have spent most of the time at the hospital with the little boy. He had broken right fingers and arm and broken left leg. As well as, damage around his eye sockets that will need repairing in the future. We pray for a speedy and complete recovery for him and both sides of the family.
Although the circumstances for my daughters visit was unfortunate, we had a good visit  and made the most of it. These pictures were of her first day. She arrived at the airport about 6:30AM, went to Cracker Barrel, and Newport on the Levee in Newport, KY. It has shops, restaurants, AMC movies, etc. and is across the river from Cincinnati, OH.

Tom + Chee is a local restaurant that has different types of, you guessed it, grilled cheese sandwiches. The first sandwich is a Grilled BLT Cheese and the 2nd is a Grilled Strawberry Lemonade Donut. YUMMY! Pure Deliciousness! We thought we died and went to heaven with the donut.

 Andrea needed to rest.

This is The Purple People Bridge. Named so because only people can use and it's purple, of course. It doesn't meet regulations for todays bridges and cars.

Blogging Again!

Well, here I go again! Blogging, that is. Tried it before and didn't do very well. I think I blogged about 5 times over a year or was it that long. Not sure, but it doesn't matter now. I have been thinking about trying to blog again for several weeks. Then today, my daughter said, "You should blog again." That did it. That was all I needed to try again. So, my goal is to blog at least once a week and possibly twice a week.

So, a little about me to introduce myself. I am a Christian, Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I belong to a small little country church. My profession is a speech therapist for 27 1/2 years in the public schools. I love my job and am more patient now, than I was when younger. My base school is the middle school (ms). Other schools I service is the high school (hs), the district alternative school, if there are any students there that need speech therapy, and several Catholic schools. You see, I seem to be the traveling therapist in my district. But I like that. I like going to other schools and seeing other people, getting out and about.  I travel two days a week. Monday, I leave my middle school to have lunch, then the alternative school and the two catholic schools. For my Wednesday schedule, I am at the ms for over an hour, then off to one of the catholic schools, the alternative school, lunch and back to the ms. I feel getting lunch those days, is a perk. Not much of one, but sometimes, it's the little things that make us happy.

I also scrapbook and a want to be photographer. It's more like I take pictures than I am a photographer. Hopefully, I will get better with practice and my brand new camera, my daughter and her boyfriend gave me for Christmas. It is a Canon, SX50 HS. Haven't learned a lot yet, but I will. Saturday, I took a lot of pictures at the ms regional wrestling tournament using the sports setting. My ms, has five wrestlers going to state. So proud, of those guys.

I am an animal lover and owner of a dog. He is a schnauzer mix, has a brindle coat and is very energetic. His name is Scruffy because his hair is scruffy when grown out. I did have an orange long haired cat, named Peaches but had to give her to the local county animal shelter this past fall. She was an older cat and I was afraid she wouldn't get adopted, but she did. That made me so happy.

Well, enough for now. See you real soon.
